January 14, 2012: ASC #2
Faced once again with a less than optimal schedule, the 14 Teal team fought through adversity to finish 2nd in pool play and then went on to win the single crossover match for a 3rd place finish; the final match concluded after midnight! Their match record for the day was 3-1.
The goal of the day was to use the motto from a Club Jollyville training shirt from two seasons ago...
The motto is "WE > me."
Volleyball is a team sport and it takes a team attitude to compete and to be successful. These players demonstrated their support of their teammates both on and off the court definitely living the motto.
The 13 Teal team started off with a loss in their first match at ASC#2, but pulled together and worked as a team to fight back and win their pool. They finished the day in second place.

The 13 Teal team opened their season at the Tornados Warmup, facing some fierce competition on Day 1 including the eventual tournament champion. The team settled down on Day 2 and powered through to claim their first victory of the season. We learned the importance of three things: communicating to our teammates, serving effectively, and quickly moving to our positions. Watch out ASC #5 - 13 Teal is ready to BRING IT!
The 14 Teal team showed great determination and mental resolve in their opening tournament of their season at the Tornados Warm-up. They finished the first day of competition 1-2, with losses to teams that finished 2nd and 5th overall. With an opening match win at 8am on the final day of competition, the 14 Teal players overcame a most “unusual schedule” to defeat their next opponent in a three set match that started at 3:30pm; yes, a 6.5 hour gap between matches. In what would be their last match of the tournament, the 14 Teal fought hard in a back and forth match that included a first set score of 28-30! The 14 Teal players are dedicating themselves to improving their serve-receive so they can “Bring It” to every remaining tournament.
The 15 Teal team won first place in their pool on the opening day of play, but lost a tough challenge match Saturday evening which put them in the bronze bracket for the second day. The team went undefeated on Sunday to capture 9th overall out of 30 teams in the 15 Club division.
The 16 Teal team had a strong performance in their first tournament of the season. They went 2-3 and received 8th place in the tournament. The team remained competitive throughout the weekend with many very close games. If the team keeps working hard during practices, they will continue with a great season.
